It's very important for our political leaders to understand why our schools are important. Do your best, please. :) SST- "Find a Match" worksheet, "Find the message" can be handed out if students finish and turn in their 1st assignment. C.W.- 1st- Holiday artistic drawing (w/ 10 line poem) (12/9), 2 paragraph free write (12/10), 10 line poem (12/10), 2 paragraph critique of one of your favorite authors (12/12) Eng. 12- 1st- I'd like the class to listen to the following MPR broadcasts: http://michiganradio.org/post/whats-worse-idea-selling-dia-collection Eng. 11- 1st- LAST day for Night collages. When finished, students may explore the following: http://michiganradio.org/post/us-senators-want-more-info-enbridge-pipeline-running-through-straits-mackinac After viewing/listening to each, I'd like students to compose a well-written paragraph detailing their thoughts on each issue. Healthy Living- If you could please give students until 2:20 to FINISH their posters (as long as they're working respectfully) and then show the following film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6q_YOlEyjw&list=PL51C6064FFD09FE06&index=6. (If students finish their posters earlier, you can start the video when ready). If time allows, students can pair up and write a group paragraph re: their thoughts on the film. Thanks for coming in today, Mr. Johnson. :) ***After listening to the broadcasts, Eng. 12 students can work on the following: 1st- a one paragraph prediction of Janie's future (12/12), 2nd- (w/ a partner) students can write a one paragraph response re: the DIA situation, and one reaction about Michigan's homeless youth.
SST- No calculators, class. Please be polite, quiet, and respectful :) C.W.- 1st: Students may finish their holiday assignments. 2nd- They can do a two paragraph writing assignment on the topic of their choice. 3rd- If they're done with both, students can create their own 10 line poem. Eng. 12- Students will work on grammar activities today. When finished, they may work on missing assignments from the book/vocabulary. Eng. 11- Terrance/Joel are working on a project- (criteria on 12/6 blog entry) Gentlemen, please do your best and don't waste time. If students are present who do not already have a group, they will need to begin their own project. Healthy Living- Students began group posters yesterday. (criteria on 12/9 blog entry) Ben, Kayla, & Travis are working together. Our second group is Tiffany & Jacob. (Shelby will join their group if he's present).
Students are using their neatest handwriting/planning for this project. (A rough draft plan of the assignment on a sheet of notebook paper will be a good idea).
When you are finished please respond in paragraph form to the following questions. Do children examine the world in ways that differ from adults? What advantages could be provided by answers through the lens of a scientist's mind? How can we show children that we value their questions/answers by the ways in which we interact with them?
